We’ve made it through the shortest and darkest days of winter, but some are celebrating the recent “Dark Sky Certification” of Voyageurs National Park. Host Robin Washington sheds some light on what’s good about the dark skies of the Northland, this week on “Simply Superior”. Plus, a report card from The Federal Reserve on the state of businesses in the region.
In light (pun intended) of the Voyagers National Park designation, Washington revisits a 2019 conversation with Randy Larson and Cynthia Lapp of the International Dark Sky Association’s Starry Skies Lake Superior chapter, who tell us why we should turn off those bright porch lights as well as cut back on high powered street lights.
Also on this week’s show, WPR’s Dean Kallenbach speaks with Ron Wirtz, regional outreach director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, who shares preliminary insights from a just-completed survey of business conditions in the six-state region that includes western Wisconsin.
