With its initial premiere coming last March right as the pandemic hit, “The Burnt Orange Heresy” was missed by many would-be film-goers. On this week’s edition of “Simply Superior” host Robin Washington looks at the film’s numerous nods to the Northland, including a character played by Mick Jagger who heaps praise on the Duluth Art Institute. Starring Jagger, Claes Bang, Elizabeth Debicki and Donald Sutherland, “The Burnt Orange Heresy” is an edge-of-your-seat art thriller. It finally had its local premiere this week at The West Theatre in a limited run. Theater owner Bob Boone talks about reopening under strict social distancing guidelines, while DAI executive director Christina Woods tells of the movie’s true-story mention of the Institute’s former Toulouse-Lautrec.

Also on this week’s show, Leslie Hietala of Artistic Florals by Leslie in Superior and Carol Beirl of the EverGrow Learning Center in Ashland discuss how their businesses have survived during the ups and downs of the pandemic. Helping them navigate the times and programs available to them is Andrew Donahue, director of the Small Business Development Center at the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
