Two years after the tragedy that changed the world, the intersection of East 38th Street and Chicago Avenue in Minneapolis is hallowed ground as George Floyd Square. It remains so – though now open to traffic after being blocked off for a year. In a rebroadcast from the first anniversary of the murder, “Simply Superior” host Robin Washington visited the street corner, listening to those from near and far who’ve come to reflect, organize and demonstrate. Washington also speaks with Superior African heritage activist Kym Young about how far the region and nation have come since Floyd’s death. We then hear from Howard Colbert, managing editor of the MinnPost with how things look now at the two-year anniversary.
Also, singer-songwriter duo Bill and Kate Isles share their most popular songs in a year’s worth of online concerts they began with the onset of the pandemic.
