As the country focuses on the murder trial of now-former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin for the death of George Floyd, host Robin Washington takes an in-depth look at the financial crimes he’s also charged with. Plus, local musician Shane Nelson reflects on a year without live performances.

Chauvin and his wife Kellie Chauvin have both been charged in Minnesota’s Washington County District Court with felony counts related to alleged tax fraud. Washington speaks with Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal reporter Iain Carlos about the case.

Rounding out “Simply Superior” this week, we mark the one year anniversary of the pause of live music performances due to Covid-19 restrictions. Nelson joins the program, sharing his music and thoughts on what it has been like to create and perform during the pandemic.
