Heard On Simply Superior

Andrew Donahue, director of the Wisconsin Small Business Development Center at UW-Superior, shares relief programs and strategies for small businesses to make it through what everyone hopes are the final months of the coronavirus pandemic. Plus, a transportation sector forecast as the Great Lakes shipping season resumes.

Donahue joins host Robin Washington for a discussion about the cautious optimism many business owners describe as vaccine rollouts reveal a light at the end of the COVID-19 tunnel. Many are starting to position themselves for business life and opportunities beyond the pandemic. Joining the conversation is Aryana Buck, co-owner of Empire Coffee in Superior, who tells how her enterprise has fared and her plans for the future.

As the Duluth/Superior shipping seasons resumes, Richard Stewart, professor of Business and Director of the Transportation and Logistics Research Center at UWS, joins the program to give his forecast and an overview of regional transportation.

Rounding out “Simply Superior” this week is our first Sound Judgment contest. Listeners are invited to identify sounds that we all know – but maybe not as well as we think we do – such as the blast of the Aerial Lift Bridge horn and other familiar toots, chimes and clangs heard around the Twin Ports. One lucky contestant will have the chance to win WPR merchandise and the fun of playing along – and proving their sound judgment.
