Measured by tonnage, the Port of Duluth-Superior is already among the top 20 ports in the U.S., thanks in large part to its export of iron ore products. Now, a new certification will allow for container cargo, potentially a major expansion at the country’s furthest inland seaport that may allow importers to bypass the overbooked docks of Long Beach, Calif. and other ports paralyzed by the supply chain crises. Duluth Seaway Port Authority Executive Director Deborah DeLuca and Jonathan Lamb of Duluth Cargo Connect speak with Robin Washington about what the new cargo means for the area’s economy and shipping industry.

Also, since first lending his voice to the gluttonous Droseraceae plant Audrey in a University of Wisconsin-Superior production of “Little Shop of Horrors” two decades ago, Gabe Mayfield has become a mainstay of the Twin Ports stage. Along with his roles in everything from “Ragtime” to Daddy Warbucks in “Annie,” he’s also a singer, with one album on all the streaming platforms and another on the way. Mayfield joins Washington to talk about his acting and his music.
