Braving a winter storm, officeholders from Northwestern Wisconsin cities and counties joined local business and civic leaders this week to visit state officials in Madison for the 38th annual Superior Days. “Simply Superior” host Robin Washington made the trip with them to chronicle the annual lobbying effort that advocates for the oft-forgotten far corner of the state.

Also, from Star Wars to Jurassic Park, everyone knows the music of movie composer John Williams. But he’s also created more obscure orchestral works, to be included with his mega hits in an all-Williams pops concert by the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, Feb. 24. Washington speaks with DSSO conductor Dirk Meyer and soloist-principal saxophonist Greg Moore about Williams’ music – and why the orchestra will do just fine with just one full rehearsal of the often-complex scores and symphonic works.
