Like much of the nation, Wisconsin’s job market is booming, but businesses are continuing to grapple with a shortage of skilled labor. And according to the Associated General Contractors of America, in the near future, fewer companies will be able to bid on construction projects if they believe they won’t have enough workers to meet demand. Shereen Siewert welcomes North Central Wisconsin Workforce Development Board Business Services Director Derek Heikkinen, Mid-State Technical College Apprenticeship Coordinator Mandy Mayek and Nicolet College Economic and Community Development Director Sandy Bishop for a discussion on the skilled labor shortage.
Heikkinen, Mayek and Bishop will discuss the changing labor market in central and northern Wisconsin, along with efforts by local unions and technical colleges to ensure businesses have enough skilled workers to fill their needs.
