Prairie Chicken Population at Buena Vista

This we’ll look at efforts to save endangered species through habitat restoration in North Central Wisconsin. This past weekend marked the culmination of a four year project to save the prairie chicken population at the Buena Vista grasslands near Plover, with a final shipment of birds from the Nature Conservancy’s Glacial Ridge project in northwestern Minnesota. Guests will be Mary Jean Huston, executive director of the Nature Conservancy of Wisconsin; Brian Winter, director of the Nature Conservancy’s Northern Tallgrass Prairie Ecoregion office in Glyndon, Minnesota; and Lesa Kardash, Wildlife Biologist and prairie chicken expert with the DNR.
