'UFO Crash Site' sign
A sign directs travelers to the start of the “1947 UFO Crash Site Tours” in Roswell, New Mexico, in June 1997. In Roswell, locals don’t argue anymore about whether a space ship crashed nearby. They argue about whose ranch it landed on. Eric Draper/AP Photo

In the 1950s and 60s, a unit at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio collected and investigated UFO sightings – including quite a few in Wisconsin communities. The Air Force concluded that most of the reports were due to easily explainable phenomena, but other cases aren’t so easily explained.

Shereen Siewert welcomes author and podcaster Mark O’Connell to discuss reports documented in Project Blue Book, information that is now declassified and available through the National Archive. From flying saucers in Eau Claire to unexplained floating lights in Wausau, we’ll comb through the reports and hear about how investigations were performed.
