We take a look at the Badger State Winter Games, and the possible end of Wausau as the host community for the event. Guests will be Darien Schaefer of the Wausau/Central Wisconsin Convention and Visitors Bureau, which decided to stop funding and sponsoring Wausau as the host community, and Perron Nicholas of the Wisconsin Sports Development Corporation, the non-profit organization that manages and provides direction for the games. We’ll discuss the importance of the annual Olympic style competition to the athletes and volunteers, the history of the games, their regional economic impact, and the options available for their future. The games take place over three weekends, beginning this Friday.
