In January, Gov. Tony Evers declared 2019 the year of clean drinking water. But how far have we come? Shereen Siewert welcomes Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes and Democratic State Rep. Katrina Shankland of Stevens Point for a conversation on current and potential legislation to minimize the potential health impacts of lead pipes and polluted wells in central and northern Wisconsin. Shankland serves as Vice-Chair of the Speaker’s Task Force on Water Quality.

The program is the second of two programs on the clean water issue. In June, Republican State Sen. Patrick Testin, of Stevens Point, and Republican Rep. Scott Krug, of Nekoosa, discussed their proposal to reduce nitrates in Wisconsin’s wells. Listen to part one here.
