Wisconsin 31st State Senate Republican Primary Forum Part 1
An August 12 primary election in Wisconsin’s 31st state Senate district will determine which Republican will challenge incumbent Sen. Kathleen Vinehout (D-Alma) in November’s general election. Vinehout is completing her second four year term and was first elected in the fall of 2006. A forum with Republicans Bill Ingram of Durand and Mel Pittman of Plum City was recorded in WPR’s Eau Claire studios on August 4. Ingram is a retired police officer and member of the Pepin County Board of Supervisors. Pittman is a dairy farmer and past member of the Pierce County Board of Supervisors. The 31st Senate District encompasses all or parts of Jackson, Trempealeau, Buffalo, Pierce, Pepin and Eau Claire Counties. The general election will be held Tuesday, November 4.
In the forum’s first segment, we hear the candidate’s views on frac sand mining, public education financing and the political tone in the Wisconsin legislature.

Wisconsin 31st State Senate Republican Primary Forum Part 2
Two Republicans are running against each other in the August 12 primary election for the 31st state Senate District. The winner will face incumbent state Sen. Kathleen Vinehout (D-Alma) in the November 4 general election. We hear the views of Mel Pittman of Plum City, a dairy farmer and former member of the Pierce County Board of Supervisors and Bill Ingram of Durand, a former police officer and current member of the Pepin County Board of Supervisors. Vinehout represents a district that includes all or part of Buffalo, Trempealeau, Jackson, Eau Claire, Pepin and Pierce Counties. She’s been a state senator since 2007.
In the forum’s second segment, we hear the candidate’s views on the question of whether the state should offer drivers licenses to illegal immigrants, the state’s transportation budget and why they are running as Republicans.
