During the Civil War, Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln met twice in the White House. There's no record of the conversations, but playwright Richard Hellesen has written a play based on the issues that may have led to a lively set of exchanges between the two giants of American history. Baron Kelly and Norman Gilliland bring their words to life in an adaptation directed by Russell Vandenbroucke. This broadcast will begin slightly earlier than usual, at 4 pm sharp. To hear the play, follow this link https://chazen.wisc.edu/listen-to-necessary-sacrifices-here/
