President Donald Trump in Asia, Democrats notch their first Trump-era wins and a busy week in the state Legislature. We discuss those and other top national and state political stories in the Week in Review.

Trump’s 12-day tour has taken him to Japan, South Korea and China. He’ll also head to Vietnam and the Philippines. He’s encouraged North Korea to “come to the table” to negotiate over its nuclear weapons program and pledged to make trade deals with China that are more favorable to the United States.

Democrats won gubernatorial races in Virginia and New Jersey and mayoral races in New York and Boston. Voters in Virginia also elected the state’s first openly-transgender state representative. The victories marked the Republicans’ most significant day of defeat since Trump became president.

The state Senate passed a resolution calling for a convention of states to add a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The Senate also approved a bill to lift Wisconsin’s sulfide mining moratorium. In addition, senators gave the thumbs up to a measure that would allow children of any age to hunt with guns. All three pieces of legislation now go to Gov. Scott Walker.

What have you taken away from Trump’s visit to Asia? Do you approve or disapprove of his handling of North Korea? Were the Democrats’ victories a sound rejection of Trump and his policies or were those wins overstated? Which bill in the state Legislature do you want to discuss?
