It’s estimated that more than one in ten Americans have at least one medical device implanted in their bodies, with items ranging from cochlear implants to artificial knees to coronary stents. While the benefits can include improved eyesight, mobility and heart health, these devices are not without issues. Join us for a look at the problems associated with medical device implants. We also consider the status of regulations for these products and talk with our guest, a medical investigative journalist, about what’s being done and what’s needed to improve safety for patients.
