The Issue Is Climate Change. The Plaintiffs Are 21 Kids.
In 2015, a group of activists filed suit against then-President Barack Obama and various governmental agencies. Their allegation was unprecedented. They argued that a clean environment is a constitutional right, and that the government had violated that right by not taking sufficient action on climate change. The plaintiffs were children ranging in ages 8 to 19. We talk to one of the plaintiffs, and to a lawyer about the Supreme Court’s recent decision to put the case on hold.
