Norman Gilliland hosted a live concert by the world renowned Pro Arte Quartet in WPR’s Buck Studio.
The Quartet was founded in Belgium 100 years ago. The quartet’s members suddenly became “Artists in Residence” at the UW-Madison in 1938 when they were stranded after Germany invaded Belgium just prior to World War II. On October 7th, 2011, they played Barber’s String Qt Opus 11, music from Shostakovich’s String Qt No. 4 and Beethoven’s Razumovsky String Qt.
