Wisconsin blues guitarist Paul Filipowicz performs live on Route 51 and discusses his role in the Blues in the Schools program. Filipowicz will be at D.C. Everest High School in Weston to conduct workshops with students this Friday, teaching them about the influence and cultural significance of this uniquely American art form. Filipowicz was the winner of the 2006 Best Blues Song and 2005 Best Blues Album in the Madison Area Music Awards. In Madison Magazine, he was described as “a true treasure, the real deal, and… perhaps the finest blues player to ever come out of Madison.” The Route 51 show will also feature an interview with Ted Aarrestad, D.C. Everest Director of Bands and member of the board of directors of the Wausau Symphony and Band. Blues in the Schools is made possible by the Great Northern Blues Society.
