Central Wisconsin Jazz Scene

July 20 at 10 a.m., Wisconsin Public Radio’s Route 51 looks at the growing jazz scene in central Wisconsin, and the musicians who are making it happen.

Glen Moberg will moderate a discussion with Matt Buchman, pianist, composer, director of jazz studies and Professor of Music at UW-Stevens Point; David Hastings, performer with the Central Wisconsin Jazz Ensemble and Professor of Saxophone at UW-Stevens Point; and Tim Buchholz, vocal jazz ensemble director, vice president of the River Valley Jazz Society, and Associate Professor of Music at UW-Marathon County. The guests will discuss their musical influences, and regional jazz events including the Riverfront Jazz Festival and Scarabocchio Jazz Listening Sessions in Stevens Point, and the Sid Kyler River Valley Jazz Festival and Jazz on the River series in Wausau.
