Wisconsin environmental organizations called on the EPA to have more involvement in Kewaunee County to solve the region’s problem with unsafe drinking water which has been contaminated by animal manure. Our guest tells us more about the contamination and why groups are turning to a federal agency to protect water sources. A recent report shows that Wisconsin taxpayers could save money if more 17-year-old offenders went through the juvenile court system. The study’s author makes the case for keeping adolescents out of adult court. We also learn about taking smarter risks.

Wisconsin Environmental Groups Call for EPA Involvement in Protecting Drinking Water
Wisconsin environmental organizations sent a letter to the EPA yesterday, requesting federal involvement to protect northeastern Wisconsin’s drinking water. What Science Can Tell Us About Risk, And How We Can Become Better Risk-Takers
When it comes to taking risks, it seems like not all of us are created equal. Some of us will jump at the chance to pick up and move across the country, or jump out of an airplane…while others seem to shy away from risk, preferring the comfort and stability that a daily routine can provide. But why is that? An author looks at the science that goes into risk-taking…and the factors that go into whether or not we’re likely to pump the gas pedal, or the brakes, when it comes to risk…and how we can become better risk-takers.
