Pelosi Calls For State Of The Union Postponement Due To Government Shutdown
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi submitted a letter the White House Wednesday advising President Trump to postpone the annual State of the Union address scheduled at the end of the month. Pelosi cited safety concerns amid the ongoing government shutdown which has furloughed a number of security employees. We talk to Susan Johnson, Associate Professor of Political Science at UW-Whitewater, about the politics of the request and how President Trump responded to the letter.
