Madison Mayor Paul Soglin will “most likely” make a bid to challenge Gov. Scott Walker, with an official announcement planned for early 2018, according to reporting Tuesday from The Capital Times.
“I’ll have an announcement after the first of the year, and it is most likely I will run,” Soglin told the paper.
Soglin began floating the idea of a gubernatorial run earlier this year.

The left-leaning mayor would join an already crowded field of Democrats vying for the chance to unseat Republican Walker, who is set to formally announce his re-election campaign Sunday.
Declared candidates on the Democratic side include state schools Superintendent Tony Evers, state Sen. Kathleen Vinehout, state Rep. Dana Wachs, activist Mike McCabe and businessman Andy Gronik.
