Gov. Scott Walker announced on Thursday that he would unveil his next state budget on Feb. 3.

Walker made the announcement while speaking to the Wisconsin Bankers Association in Madison. He told reporters afterward that he had no timeline for when he wanted the Legislature to pass the budget and send it back to his desk.

“If they can get it done sooner than normal, that’s great, but they should take the time that they feel is necessary,” said Walker.

Walker had previously indicated he wanted lawmakers to move more quickly on the budget this year. This will be the earliest Walker has ever given a budget address. The governor unveiled his last budget in mid-February and his first budget in early March.
