When Gov. Scott Walker took the stage Thursday at the Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce event he was wearing a pair of sunglasses.
“The future’s so bright I gotta wear shades, right? I’m not going to wear them the whole time, but it reminded me that when you think about the future of this state, it really is exciting,” he said.
He was quoting 1986 song by Madison band Timbuk3. Walker’s speech also focused on expanding high speed internet across Wisconsin and growing technical school enrollment.

After his prepared remarks, the governor told reporters he won’t announce a 2018 re-election bid until budget negotiations wrap up in mid-2017.
He did say he’s encouraged by the prospect of being governor during a Trump administration, which he believes will give more authority to states.
