While Gov. Scott Walker’s gubernatorial campaign has been soliciting donations, Walker himself says any decision to run for re-election is months away.

Walker told reporters in Green Bay Wednesday that if he’s to run for governor again, he needs to be in the position to do so — hence the email to supporters. However, he said he won’t announce anything yet.

“We won’t make an official decision probably until after the November election,” he said. “But we feel like there’s still work to be done.”

Walker nevertheless sounded like a candidate, touting “a 5-point drop in the unemployment rate since the beginning of 2010” and “a budget that was $3.6 billion in deficit now being a surplus.”

Not surprisingly, Democratic state lawmakers and Walker opponents disagree with his economic record. They say Wisconsin lags other Midwestern states in job creation and that workers are moving elsewhere.
