Gov. Scott Walker won’t say whether the $86,000 his campaign recently paid attorneys was connected with the latest John Doe investigation.
Walker reported the payment made to former U.S. Attorney Steven Biscupic’s law firm in his last campaign finance report, but he had little to say about what it was for.
“Again, we’ve made — and I’m not getting into details on it — but we’ve consistently made payments to Steve Biscupic in the past on election law and other issues like that,” Walker said. “That’s not inconsistent with what we’ve done in previous reports.”

While a John Doe is a semi-secret investigation, court documents and news reports indicate this one spans five counties and includes several conservative organizations. The previous John Doe investigation, which concluded last year, resulted in the arrest of several former Walker aides who worked for him before he was elected Governor.
