Democratic state Rep. Chris Taylor, D-Madison, has been named to the Legislature’s budget-writing Joint Finance Committee.

The appointment was announced Monday by the new Democratic Assembly Minority Leader Gordon Hintz. Taylor had served on the committee from 2015 to 2017 and will take Hintz’s spot.

The appointment was one of the first official actions Hintz has taken as Assembly minority leader, a job he won last month and that he began Sunday.

Taylor has been in the Legislature since 2011. She joins Rep. Katrina Shankland, D-Stevens Point, as the two Assembly Democrats on the budget committee.

Democrats have just four seats on the 16-member panel that is charged with writing the state budget every two years.
