A police shooting in Ashland is under review by state investigators.
The mayor’s office says two police officers responded to a call at about 7:30 p.m. Monday and shots were fired a short time later. The individual who was hit was taken to the Ashland hospital and then airlifted to a Duluth hospital. A Wisconsin Department of Justice spokeswoman told Wisconsin Public Radio the person shot is alive, but no further details were immediately available.
No officers were injured.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation is leading the investigation at the request of the Ashland police.
“DCI is continuing to collect evidence and determine the facts of this incident and will turn over investigative reports to the district attorney when the investigation concludes,” the department said in a news release issued Tuesday.
The officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave which is standard procedure for a police shooting.
