Uwe Bergmann is a professor of ultrafast x-ray science in UW-Madison’s Department of Physics, where he teaches half the year. The other half he spends doing research in California, where he is affiliate researcher at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He also worked as a staff scientist at the U.S. Department of Energy’s SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory in Stanford, California. His research activities focus on the development and application of novel synchrotron and x-ray laser techniques.
