Stan Gehrt is Professor & Wildlife Extension Specialist at Ohio State University. He is also the Principal Investigator of the Cook County Coyote Project having initiated the Illinois study in 2000. His research looks at the long-term population ecology and disease dynamics of coyotes in the Chicago Metropolitan Area. He and his researchers have been monitoring coyotes in this highly urbanized landscape for the past 12 years, having marked nearly 700 coyotes, making this the largest urban study of its kind. His research includes mammalian ecology, especially in urban systems, and dynamics of wildlife disease.
