Sara DeLuca, a resident of New Richmond, Wisconsin, grew up in nearby Polk County on a sheep and dairy farm. She is the author of Dancing the Cows Home: A Wisconsin Girlhood, and The Crops Look Good: News from a Midwestern Family Farm, both published by Minnesota Historical Society Press. She has also published regional history with Wisconsin Magazine of History. Her poetry has appeared in numerous journals and chapbooks.
Her latest book is a collection of Civil War letters, written by a soldier from Beloit, Wisconsin. The book is titled Heavy Marching: The Civil War Letters of Lute Moseley, 22nd Wisconsin.
