Since 1993, Paul has served as the Fisheries Ecologist for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources’ Bureau of Fisheries Management. Paul received his Bachelor of Science in Fisheries from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point, and his Master of Science from The Ohio State University. Paul is the chief technical consultant on fisheries restoration in lakes, including the science of in-lake nutrient dynamics, trophic structure, community ecology, and bio-manipulation of fish communities. Paul leads the Department’s warm-water habitat management program. Paul is currently co-leading Wisconsin DNR’s masterplanning of Driftless Area Streams. This is the largest geographic effort of master planning undertaken by the DNR, involving 44,000 acres of public land adjacent to 299 trout streams and 44 smallmouth bass streams across 23 counties. Paul also administers the Stream Bank Protection Program and purchase of Fishery Areas Lands.
