Lisa Ludwinski is the founder of Detroit’s beloved Sister Pie, a neighborhood bakery that uses pie to celebrate the seasons and showcase Michigan’s local produce. Lisa’s business has grown from an at-home operation based in her parents’ kitchen to a custom order business fulfilled out of a shared commercial kitchen to, finally, a bright brick-and-mortar shop in downtown Detroit that opened its doors in 2015. Today, Sister Pie is known across Detroit for its homey style and radical flavor combinations, many of which can be found in Lisa’s recently released cookbook Sister Pie. Lisa has also become known for her commitment to what she calls a “triple bottom line” business practice—one that equally prioritizes her employees, the environment, and the economy.
