Professor Beneker’s primary research interest is in Greco-Roman biography. His publications include a monograph on Plutarch’s biographical method, The Passionate Statesman: Eros and Politics in Plutarch’s Lives (Oxford 2012), and other articles on Plutarch, Cornelius Nepos, and Suetonius. In addition to teaching courses in Greek and Latin language and literature, Professor Beneker teaches lecture courses on Classical Mythology, the Epic tradition, and Roman Civilization.
