Dawn Jewell

Dawn Jewell has been involved with community and public radio for over 30 years, including stations in Washington state, Hawai’i, Ohio and Wisconsin. She completed her master’s degree in public media at Ohio University in 2015. Dawn served as Underwriting Director for KKCR, Kaua’i Community Radio, in the mid 2000’s. As one member of the station’s small operational staff, she learned to embrace many roles and responsibilities while serving the remote island community.

Dawn joined the staff of Wisconsin Public Radio’s southwest regional bureau in La Crosse in 2016. She enjoys a variety of roles, including community outreach, serving on WPR’s statewide marketing team, and producer for La Crosse’s weekly public affairs program, “Newsmakers.” Born and raised in the southwest Wisconsin town of Richland Center, Dawn returned to her roots in 2015 to be closer to family. She currently resides in Viroqua and is a dedicated volunteer with WDRT, Driftless Community Radio. She has hosted “Jewel Box Radio” for many years, known for its wide eclectic mix of well-curated musical gems. Dawn is also a performing musician, singer and songwriter.
