Brian Bartels is a writer based in Madison. In addition to his published books, “Conversations with Sam Shepard,” “The United States of Cocktails” and “The Bloody Mary,” he writes about Wisconsin memories in Bootwood (Substack). He is also the co-owner of Settle Down Tavern, Oz by Oz and Turn Key Supper Club.
