Gov. Scott Walker spent his final day on the campaign trail surrounded by his family and supporters, traveling to six cities around Wisconsin.

At a stop in Onalaska, a small city directly outside of La Crosse, Bruce Springsteen blared on the loudspeakers at the headquarters of L.B. White, a heating manufacturer. Supporters and plant employees cheered as Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch gave a speech, touting job creation and the falling unemployment rate as a reason to re-elect Walker, while her family watched on from stage.

U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, was also on tour with the governor on Monday. He called Walker “courageous.”

“We have a governor who has tackled our state’s problems. He saw the problems and ran towards them to solve them, instead of running away from them, pointing fingers,” said Ryan.

When Walker took the microphone, he boasted that his tax reforms and freezing of University of Wisconsin tuition have made put the state in better shape than it was in four years ago.

At one point he made reference to his sons, Matthew and Alex, who were at the rally along with first lady Tonette Walker.

“I hope today, people in this state can see that our motives were pure,” said Walker. “It wasn’t about politics or position. It was about making sure that Matthew and Alex and all the other sons and daughters like them, all the other grandsons and granddaughters, could grow up in a Wisconsin that was even better … than the Wisconsin we grew up in.”

After the speeches, Walker talked with supporters, took photos and signed autographs on campaign signs.
