University Supporters Turn Out for Hearing

Funding for the UW System has turned into a battleground for Assembly Republicans and Senate Democrats.Last week the Republican-controlled Assembly doubled the Governor’s proposed cuts to universities.The university responded by freezing admissions, hiring and travel budgets.This week a Democratic-controlled Senate committee is holding hearings on campuses around the state to get reaction.As expected, many of those testifying at the hearing in Eau Claire call the Assembly cuts foolish.Mary Jo Wagner has more.
