Tribe Raises Funds to Protect Wolf River

The thirty-year-long battle to protect the Wolf River from copper mining in Forest County isn’t quite over.The Mole Lake Sokaogan Chippewa tribe is in the final stages of a fundraising effort to raise eight million dollars by next April to pay off a loan from an international mining company.If successful, the tribe will have permanent title to the land and mineral rights in Crandon near their reservation.Gil Halsted reports…
