Jean Nicolet is an important figure from Wisconsin’s distant past.Now a statue of the explorer is facing an uncertain future in Brown County.The Department of Transportation is closing the wayside where the statue overlooks the spot on Green Bay where Nicolet is supposed to have landed in 1634…possibly making him the first European to set foot in Wisconsin.As Patty Murray reports, the D-O-T says it wants the statue to stay put…
