Madison police say a woman who stabbed a sixth grade classmate in order to appease a fictional horror character known as Slender Man is back in custody after removing her ankle bracelet and not returning to a group home in the city.
In a Facebook post, the Madison Police Department said Geyser “cut off her Department of Corrections monitoring bracelet” and left her group home Saturday night.
The department said she was located Sunday night in Posen, Illinois, nearly 24 hours after she disappeared.

Morgan Geyser made national news in 2014 when she and Anissa Weier lured Payton Leutner to the woods during a sleepover and Geyser stabbed Leutner 19 times and left her for dead. The women, who were 12 years old at the time, told police they did it to please a fictional online horror character known as Slender Man.
Geyser was sentenced in 2018 to serve 40 years at a psychiatric hospital, but in July was granted conditional release from the Winnebago Mental Health Institute by a Waukesha County judge. She was transferred to a group home.
