It’s estimated that fewer than half Wisconsin’s counties have formal, modern standards for determining where inmates are kept in jail. That matters because it can prevent inmate fights and suicides, and protect jailers. Representative Don Friske of Merrill is pushing a bill requiring certain criteria be used in placing inmates.
