Steven Avery who spent 18 years in prison for a rape he didn’t commit now faces alife sentence for murdering 25 year old Teresa Halbach. Yesterday, a jury in Calumet found Avery guilty of murdering Halbach on Halloween two years ago. He was also found guilty of felony possession of a firearm. But the jury found him NOT guilty of the third charge -mutilating and burning Halbach’s body. Avery’s attorneys say that somewhat puzzling verdict leaves some leverage for pursuing an appeal.
