The lake sturgeon species is hundreds of millions of years old, but population levels are down due to habitat destruction and overfishing. The Riveredge Nature Center is in the middle of a 25-year program to rebuild the population in Lake Michigan, and will be releasing a new batch of sturgeon this weekend. The director of the center joins us to talk about the program, and why the sturgeon is important to the Great Lakes.
