State Supreme Court Justice Bradley To Launch Re-Election Campaign

Liberal Justice Faces At Least One Challenger In April Election

By

State Supreme Court Justice Ann Walsh Bradley will be launching her campaign for a third 10-year term on the bench in Madison on Monday evening.

Bradley is considered part of the liberal wing of the court. Her only announced opponent, Rock County Judge James Daley, recently told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel he decided to run against her because he disagrees with dissents she wrote in rulings upholding the state’s Voter ID law and limits on union rights for public employees.

Bradley says the court needs diverse legal perspectives.

University of Wisconsin-Madison law professor Walter Dickey said recent judicial races have focused too much on ideological differences.

“What we should be looking for is thoughtful, reflective people who are well-versed in the law trying to reach principled decisions on the issues before them,” said Dickey.

The election is April 7.
