  • Immigration In America: The Intersection Of Politics And Immigration

On Central Time all this week, we’ve been looking at the issues surrounding immigration in the United States. We’ve discussed immigration law and history while taking a look at the status of refugees in the country and what drives children to come to the U.S. without a parent. With all of these conversations, the issue of politics has played a role in writing the laws, determining who comes to the country, and who can stay and who is sent away. Immigration has always stirred debate but the conversation has been getting more polarized in recent years.

On the final day of our immigration series, Shoba Sivaprasad Wadhia–Samuel Weiss Faculty Scholar and Director of Center for Immigrants’ Rights Clinic at Penn State University–joins with us to talk about how politics plays a role in current immigration policy.
