A Wisconsin delegate at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia said she was proud to have been in the crowd when Hillary Clinton accepted the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination Thursday night.
Nancy Kaplan of Glendale said Thursday night was important because it showed how far women have come. When Kaplan was younger, she couldn’t rent an apartment without a husband or father to sign the lease and she couldn’t have a fellowship because she was told men needed the work more, Kaplan said.
Clinton’s nomination has sent a message to today’s young women that no role is too big for women.

“We need to have women in highly visible positions with strong leadership skills for younger women to know that they can get there,” Kaplan said.
Kaplan was born during Harry Truman’s administration and said she thinks there’s never been a presidential candidate who brings Clinton’s breadth and depth of experience.
