After a devastating earthquake hit Nepal Saturday, some people in Wisconsin are trying to raise money to help with relief efforts.
At University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Nepal Student Association is trying to find ways to help as their loved ones and the people of Nepal recover from a 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck the region this weekend.
“We want to focus on what we can do here while we are still in school right now, and one of the ways we can help is definitely raising awareness here on the Madison community, in Wisconsin, about what is happening in Nepal and how people here can help to those affected back in Nepal,” said Surendra Prajapati, the president of the group.

Prajapati said a candlelight vigil has been scheduled for Wednesday at 7 p.m. on the Capitol Square in Madison. He said people can send donations through Madison-based nonprofit Sarvodaya USA, or they can donate to groups like the Red Cross or UNICEF.
