More than 25 rivers in southeastern and south-central Wisconsin are at or near flood stage following heavy localized rains the past three days. Many of the rivers are expected to begin receding after Wednesday afternoon.
No one has had to be evacuated, but traffic has been detoured in different locations, including Ozaukee County, where the Milwaukee River near Cedarburg has gone over its banks.
“The big rivers – the Wisconsin, the Baraboo and the Rock – they have numerous points in there that are flooding,” said Rudy Schaar, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Sullivan. “But they are generally starting to come down, or slowing their rise. We can expect them to also start falling later on in the week.”

The minor flooding has been caused by spring rains that have brought more than 6 inches of rain to parts of Wisconsin since Saturday.
Schaar says there’s a chance of rain on Wednesday and again this weekend in the affected areas, but nothing that should cause the rivers to stop receding.
